D Steezy for Black Scale II
June 19th, 2012Words of D Steezy for his new body of work for his personal portfolio and Black Scale.
“I’m currently working on a new book project that I’m proud to say I’ll be self-publishing. Its time for me to let people explore my views a littler further, as well as the progress of my work. As you know, I have only been doing photography for three year’s and completely self-taught. Everyday I’m learning something new and trying to better my approach and vision. The magazine spreads and lookbook’s that I shoot can only showcase so much. I feel they limit the encounter I have with my audience. I want people to flip through the pages of this new project and see “real life” and “real people”, through my eyes. No one is perfect and I think flaws are beautiful. Being sexy and yourself is beautiful. Sex and honesty are two factors that rarely go together these days but I try my hardest to contribute both within the frame. With that being said, I’ve been test shooting a lot of new models lately. For this particular set I shot Ashley Brooke at Dj Fashens apartment in Hollywood. I felt his art and her look plus the cut up BS shirts were a good combination. I thought it would be cool to see your product in a different element. People get you and what you create. They love it because you built something that goes further than any screen print or garment can express. You built something that explores a certain feeling and a certain view on life. That too is what I am ultimately trying to accomplish through my visual journey. People don’t necessarily have to like my work or what I create. At the end of the day these are MY feelings and the way I choose to express myself. I know thats how you view your creative process as well.”
