This past December Teron Stevenson (Black Scale Sales Manager) and I went to Tokyo Japan to see our distributors, go shopping and eat at all the amazing restaurants Tokyo has to offer but first we of course went to work and met up with a few of the magazines, 411 being one of them to talk about Black Scale and what we have in store for 2012. The good people at FLJ magazine came to New York to shoot A$AP Rocky for the Black Scale x A$AP Rocky Capsule that will be releasing this February/March at all 3 Black Scale stores and select retailers worldwide. Our Japan distribution Calquinto and FLJ Magazine set up this shoot with A$AP Rocky and us so Japan can see first hand what the Capsule is all about and to share a little bit of who A$AP Rocky is. Agenda New York Opening Day Party with Diamond Supply Co, Crooks and Castles & Black Scale took place at Gold Bar with a special Birthday celebration for Nicky Diamond that lasted till 4am in the morning with Drewbyrd and Getlive killing every beat that came out of those speakers. I always been a fan of Ari’s work since Keith Hufnagel introduce his work to me when I was working for him almost a decade ago at the HUF store in San Francisco. I eventually met Ari and first saw his work in 2005 at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco and been buying his books since. I remember the collaboration between him and HUF which is still one of my favorite New Era’s till this day and probably forever because it was the first time I ever saw a all over print photo New era fitted and to top it off it had the illest MC’s from New York in the 80′s Ari photographed including Rakim, LL Cool J and Run DMC. Black Scale x Kicks Hawaii 10 year Anniversary Collaboration releases tomorrow Jan 27th at Black Scale San Francisco. Kicks Hawaii was one of our first doors when we started and one of our long time families in the industry. Learning so much from these guys over the years and having the opportunity to collaborate with them on their 10th year anniversary is a blessing for us.
