Frank 151 has been family to us way before Black Scale started and the Ten Years knowing each other and working together on projects such as art shows, concerts and collaborations with each others brands we continue to push the relationship through our creative projects that lead us to our second collaboration today which we titled “Red Lines Don’t Lie”. This tee has a signature Benjamin Franklin that Frank 151 runs with but we added our little touch to it and drew a red line through Benjamin Franklin’s eyes. The meaning behind the red line is people get blinded after they start seeing a large amount of success, fame and money and forget where they come from and who they were before the success, fame and fortune came along. The Frank 151 magazine shares many different stories from different parts of the world and through struggle you see how beautiful that is from the stories told in these pocket size … Read more
As a young sneakerhead with little disposable income, working at a sneaker boutique may be a dream career like no other. Not only do you get prime pickings and a generous discount, but your expanding network of like-minded individuals as well as the job satisfaction you achieve is priceless. Black Scale Co-Founder Mega began his fashion career as an avid sneakerhead who pleaded for a employee discount card at San Francisco retailer HUF. Building upon his warm and inviting personality, the bay area native studied the precise business mind of HUF Owner Keith Hufnagel, serving as a daily inspiration for his colleagues and friends. Lamping in the trenches of streetwear congestion for years now, it was natural for Mega to jump alongside his industry counterparts and start his own line. Carving out a unique niche with its distinctly dark aesthetic, Black Scale’s designs and graphics reflect the philosophical views of both its founders on an array of subjects. Coming off … Read more
A$AP ROCKY: A$VP for Channel4 is the name of A$AP Rocky’s new short doc directed by Luke + Barber. The 15-minute film, which will air in the UK and on ANIMAL in August, thrusts viewers into the trill and hazy world of Rocky and the rest of the A$AP crew. Jam-packed with weed, concert footage and gratuitous slow-mo, this little teaser will leave you feeling somewhat dizzy and might inspire a visit to Harlem. Via AnimalNewYork.
I can’t stand when I see girls wearing snapbacks in the club nor in the streets because I think girls should look sexier than wearing a pair of sneakers and a snapback but Arturo Torres shitted on me by shooting his new project. I think the photos look great and I wanted to thank Arturo for putting us in the project and for this shoot I will shut my mouth and give you a moment of Silence. The BLVCK SCVLE Theory by Lauren Festa via ThinkContra A tinge of Soho, a pinch of Fifth Ave, a linger of Rodeo Drive. This physically describes Black Scale NYC, a just-down-the-road yet out of the way menswear destination. On a slate grey cobblestone street in the city that never sleeps, a sliding door entrance opens to a polished all-black-everything ‘man cave’ if you will. Inside above our heads, a roller coaster light marquee from Coney Island spans the ceiling. Enclosed in glass cases, wallets, shades and customized lighters are immaculately lined, as are the jackets, jeans, hoodies, and tanks that hang from adjacent racks. And I can’t shake the eerie feeling that someone is watching me. In fact there are two sets of eyes. Black Scale co-founder Al from the back office, and Mona Lisa. Reluctant to speak to us at first, Al invites us to sit and smoke j’s for almost three hours as he goes on to tell … Read more

Words of D Steezy for his new body of work for his personal portfolio and Black Scale. “I’m currently working on a new book project that I’m proud to say I’ll be self-publishing. Its time for me to let people explore my views a littler further, as well as the progress of my work. As you know, I have only been doing photography for three year’s and completely self-taught. Everyday I’m learning something new and trying to better my approach and vision. The magazine spreads and lookbook’s that I shoot can only showcase so much. I feel they limit the encounter I have with my audience. I want people to flip through the pages of this new project and see “real life” and “real people”, through my eyes. No one is perfect and I think flaws are beautiful. Being sexy and yourself is beautiful. Sex and honesty are two factors that rarely go together these days but I try my … Read more
